What is commercial auto insurance?
Commercial auto insurance covers liability and physical damage for vehicles your business owns, rents, or leases. Cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, and more are all covered. If your business uses a vehicle to get the job done, it needs its own policy.
Whether you have one work truck or a full fleet, we'll help you find the right coverage for how your business operates.
Finding the right coverage at the right price shouldn't be complicated. At Nobile, we make it easy to get coverage that works for you.

What’s covered with commercial auto
Last updated April 2026 | Some information sourced from Progressive
A commercial auto policy typically includes several types of coverage that work together to protect your business on the road:
Liability
Covers injuries to other people or damage to their property if you're at fault in an accident. Massachusetts requires minimum liability coverage for all commercial vehicles.
Collision
Pays to repair or replace your vehicle if it hits another object or rolls over.
Comprehensive
Covers damage from events other than collisions, like theft, vandalism, fire, or severe weather.
Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist
Helps if you're hit by a driver who doesn't have enough coverage to pay for the damage they caused.
Medical Payments
Covers medical expenses for you and your passengers after an accident, regardless of who's at fault.
Important to note: Theft of personal items is not typically covered by commercial auto policies.

Typically, you don’t. Companies like Uber and Lyft may offer insurance when you're driving for them, but you may not be fully covered.
To make sure you're fully covered, you can add coverage to your personal auto insurance through endorsements.
For example, a carrier may offer an endorsement for Ridesharing or a Transportation Network Company.
The endorsement would help fill the insurance gap that exists when you are logged into a ride-share app (like Uber or Lyft) but have not yet accepted a passenger request. Normally, your personal auto insurance will not cover you during this time, and the ride-share company’s insurance only begins once you accept a trip.
