Discounts and Credits FAQs

  • Your eligibility for any discounts depends on your carrier. To name a few, our carriers typically offer discounts like Low Mileage, Good Student, Multi-Car, Paid-In-Full, and Account Discounts if you’re bundling home and auto.

When we write your policy, we’ll be able to make sure you receive any discounts you may be eligible for.

If you think you qualify for more discounts, Contact Us via email.

  • Securing your policy at least a few days before the effective date may make you eligible for an Early Issue or Advance Shopper discount. This credit usually applies for the first policy term and may be reduced at renewal.

  • For Quincy Mutual policies, the Superior Construction Credit offers a premium discount for homes built entirely with non-combustible materials.

  • Per Mass.gov:

“The Safe Driver Insurance Plan sets the specific credits and surcharges that an insurance company may apply to your premium. Insurance companies are not required to use the SDIP to determine surcharges for at-fault accidents and traffic violations and apply credits for incident-free years. Instead, insurers may choose to develop their own merit rating plans or to use the SDIP.”

While the SDIP provides the framework, carriers may calculate this discount differently. For a full explanation of how the “Clean in 3” provision works, you can visit the Mass.gov Safe Driver Insurance Plan page.

Also see our full page for how SDIP works.

  • Good Student Discount

Full-time students in high school or at an accredited college or university may qualify for this discount. It’s a great way to reward safe habits and strong performance in and out of the classroom.

    Student Away Discount

Students living on campus more than 100 miles from home may qualify for this discount. An operator exclusion form needs to be submitted to the carrier when the student leaves for school, and reversed to un-exclude them when they return for breaks or vacations. We’ll help guide you through the process so it’s quick and easy.

Note: These student discounts may not apply if the driver has had their license for more than 6 years, or if they are over the age limit set by their carrier.

  • A Low Mileage Discount can be applied to each vehicle that stays under the annual threshold set by your carrier. The exact mileage requirement varies, but if you drive less than average, this discount could help lower your premium.

We’ll sometimes send low mileage forms by mail or email, but you can also request the discount on our Manage Vehicles page. Submitting your current odometer reading(s) will help us determine if you qualify.

  • Commercial policies don’t offer as many discounts and credits as personal policies, but there are still ways to save.

You may qualify for the following:

    • Multi-Policy Credits if you bundle your business coverage with personal policies.

    • Safety Feature Discounts for properties with wired smoke detectors, alarms, or security systems.

    • Favorable Pricing on updated and well-maintained buildings.

    • Renewal Credits for maintaining continuous coverage without claims.

Every business is different, so we’ll review your situation to make sure you’re getting all available savings.
